MAF in Tanzania
MAF in Tanzania serves people in isolated communities through various flights throughout the year. Regular medical safaris allow doctors and nurses to provide medical check-ups and vaccination drives for people cut-off from these essential services.
MAF has been in Tanzania for over 60 years! In 1959, MAF began flying to Kenya to Tanzania. Four years later, in 1963, we made our first in-country flight in Tanzania. By 1977, we had a base in Dodoma, meeting the needs of missionaries serving in the area.
Our Operation
Today, MAF safaris transport medical and evangelistic staff to remote villages to provide medical care, including antenatal and mother-and-child checks. The teams we fly also share about God’s love as they bring help, hope and healing to the people they serve. Over the years, travel in Tanzania has become easier and safe, allowing MAF to focus on supporting the communities that need us the most. MAF is now based in Arusha and supports teams sent from different hospitals based in regional centres in Tanzania, saving hours of travel on unreliable roads. We have three aircraft and seven staff based in Arusha.
